Art ≠Capital?

I'm interested in "capital". If I want to go through the detailed definition of capital, it will take years of research and by the time my hair may get grey so I won't do that for now. Let's just simply put this way (I know I'm over simplifying.) Let's say capital is the source of any activity, whether it's social or private, entrepreneurial or non-entrepreneurial.

You can build your own capital but in many cases, you need someone's help as patrons at a very start. In a way, my parents were and are my patrons for life. For many business owners, they rely on capital with the support from banks. The question then is who can be patrons and what are the unit of patrons? Are they an individual, governmental sectors or private companies?

It probably depends on what activity the capitl is for. For me, my focus is capital for art activities and who can be the patrons for arts. Is that government, private firm, rich individual or neither of them? What are the most effective way to raise fund for art activities?

Probably it all concerns with when the time and where the place are. It's not Firenze during Renaissance. What is THE most effective way today here in Tokyo? It seems that art management talks too much about "art" but no one really cared about the core issue of "capital" in the art contexts.
