Joy of waiting a letter

f0079502_8112993.jpgA few days ago, I went to post office in office building and found a nice commemorative stamp celebrating the 50th years of diplomatic relations between Japan and India. I purchased it without any hesitation. The design was uniquely beautiful. I occasinally write a letter. It is usually a short letter using a post card. Buying eighty yen samps will motivate me to write longer letter to people.

Letter has always been so classic and simple yet gives a special touch to daily life. I have received a nice letter from a friend of mine whom I recognized as a great writer since we became friends. The usage of words, the selection of topics, the choice of letter paper to write on and the handwriitng makes a letter unique in each way and it surely touched my heart.

In addition to the joy just to receive a letter, one thing which adds a color to letter is perhaps the joy of waiting for the response: just like the excitement of waiting for photos to be developed before the digital camera gained a momentum. The time difference in fact makes the excitement grows more.

When I bought the stamps for India and Japan relations, it reminded me of letters exchanged between Okakura Tenshin and his ultimate soul mate, a poet in India.
