The strike by farmers in Argentine

So certainly when I am in one country more than a few days, after the love in sight period is over, I start seeing things more than I used to. The situation is much clear as I came down to Buenos Aires from the other cities. This is the time when the travel gets much more interesting.

Since last week, there has been a major strike by the farmers in Argentine that stopped the shipments of many products including soy, milk, meats and vegetables to the capital city.

Argentine, having the self-sufficiency rate as high as 93%, this is the country with the strong agricultural backbone. Going back to the late last year, Argentina raised export tariffs on soya, wheat and corn to match the world economy where the commodities prices are set higher and higher. 19 days has already passed since the strike has started as the domestic farmers to protest against this unpopular tariff. The farm owners seem to be struggling the higher export tariff which squeezed their life in great deals.

So, while I enjoy the nice cup of espresso coffee, I can say that I was not aware of this situation till recently. I will try to get more info before saying anything about the situation.
