Stranger of some place

Recently, I was keep reading the works by Jhumpa Lahiri and certainly her writings had a certain impulse to me. I even rented a movie based on one of her novels, Namasake.

One word that depicts her writing is probably "modern". The way she keeps a certain distance from subjects with the cool eyes and naration tones to depict the characters and that makes sense as many of the stories are the story of people today, with certain coolness when we look at our own life and our own feeling. Still, what underlies is the warmth of the people, the irony, the carma that goes time to time, generation to generation, ethnicity to ethnicity.

Especially those who have lived abroad, or specifically in the U.S. will have somewhat "deja vu" feeling when reading her books. I was certainly one of those who felt somewhat similar when I lived there.
