Surpassing "just cutting out the reality"

Thanks to my employer's social benefit, Mori museum has been a casual meeting spot just like a cafe at a street corner when I meet someone around Roppongi Hills. It's not the most proactive way to enjoy museums compared to the time when I go to the other arty, not so commercial museums. Proven to that, Mori musuem definitely offers a new way of enjoying museum, "casual" in the "commercialized" atmosphere. The Mori, whom I believe to have had a great impact to the trends among Japanese museums sometime offers such a "lovely" exhibition.

Not only lovely, but in fact I was moved by their most recent exhibition, animal totems: a prelude to ashes and snow by Gregory Corbert. Gregory Corbert is a Canadian artist who takes sepia-colored pictures and films of animals and humans. His work chooses and cuts a piece of reality and make is something internal and deeper than that. Nature, animals and humans are dynamic and regarded as one "organic" as a whole.

Surpassing \"just cutting out the reality\"_f0079502_22525452.jpgThe exhibision is a pre-show to Gregory Conbert's main exhibition, ashes and snow which just started yesterday at Odaiba. The museum named "nomad museum" is indeed "nomad". The exhibition has been travelling around the world but exhibition isn't the only one travelling. The museum itself is made of tons of containers you may see in dock. Once the show is over, they'll be taken down and used as a normal container once again.

Luckily, I had a chance to see Gregory Corbert, the artist himself in Odaiba. If I wasn't wrong (as besides myself, no one noticed he was Mr.Corbert himself), the guy with long hair tied at the back who was walking casually around the museum must have been him. It seemed that he was also an organic individual with such tender eyes. Perhaps, we are touched with his art or in another word, who he is or the way he looks at the world through his eyes and he regard the world with his mind and heart.
